The 2026 Clinical Research Innovation Forum & Editors-in-Chief Meet-and-Greet Successfully Held in Hong Kong

On March 28, 2026, the "2026 Clinical Research Innovation Forum & Editors-in-Chief Meet-and-Greet" was held in Hong Kong, co-hosted by AME Publishing Company and Wolters Kluwer. This marked the first high-level academic forum jointly organized by both parties since establishing their strategic partnership in 2025. The event brought together nearly one hundred editors-in-chief, editorial board members, clinicians, and researchers from leading global medical journals, who engaged in in-depth discussions on clinical research innovation, academic publishing trends, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Building Bridges Between Research and Publishing, Deepening Strategic Partnership

The forum opened with welcoming remarks from Stephen Wang, Founder and CEO of AME Publishing Company. He emphasized that this forum, co-hosted by AME and Wolters Kluwer, aims to create an open and in-depth dialogue platform for clinical researchers and top-tier journal editors. This initiative seeks to facilitate the production and dissemination of high-quality research findings, further advancing clinical research innovation and academic collaboration to new heights.

Rafael Sidi, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Research Business of Health Learning Research & Practice, Wolters Kluwer, stated in his address that this forum represents a significant milestone in the collaboration between Wolters Kluwer and AME Publishing Company. Wolters Kluwer remains committed to empowering the publication and dissemination of global medical research through high-quality academic resources and innovative publishing platforms, driving the efficient translation of clinical research from scientific outcomes to clinical practice.

Focusing on Clinical Innovation and Academic Publication, Promoting In-Depth Exchange and Global Collaboration

The keynote speech session was moderated by Grace Li, Managing Editor of AME Publishing Company, and Professor Dejian Wang from Zhejiang University Binjiang Institute. Multiple renowned experts shared the latest developments in their respective fields from the dual perspectives of clinical researchers and journal editors.

Prof. Jianxing He from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Executive Editor-in-Chief of AME's Journal of Thoracic Disease, outlined the clinical pathways and core elements of VITAL surgery and the tubeless technique within the ERAS protocol, which collectively form a comprehensive system dedicated to achieving rapid patient recovery, with the central philosophy of achieving source-level physiological protection through the tubeless technique, enabling patients to restore life and social functions immediately after surgery.

Prof. Jiade Lu from He You International Hospital, Editor-in-Chief of AME's Chinese Clinical Oncology demonstrated the superior precision of Proton and Carbon Ion therapy in treating complex tumors while balancing efficacy and toxicity. His standardized protocol is supported by clinical data from over 5,600 cases, primarily focusing on Head & Neck and CNS patients.

Prof. James P. Rathmell, Editor-in-Chief of Wolters Kluwer Lippincott's Anesthesiology and Professor at Harvard Medical School, shared research articles that can change clinical practice, using multiple cover articles from Asian regions as examples. He emphasized driving medical progress through global collaboration and transforming clinical practice.

Prof. Yixiang Wang from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Editor-in-Chief of AME's Quantitative Imaging in Medicine and Surgery, conducted a comprehensive assessment of the ecosystem of academic publishing and peer review, specifically analyzing the standard requirements of radiology specialty journals.

Prof. Rafael Rosell, Editor-in-Chief of AME's Translational Lung Cancer Research (TLCR), reviewed the journal's founding history. He noted that the lung cancer field has witnessed rapid development over the past two decades, with continuously growing global research output. China's contribution has been particularly remarkable, ranking among the world's top in publication volume, while the United States, Japan, and European countries also play important roles in academic influence and international cooperation. As a witness and promoter of rapid development in the lung cancer field, TLCR magazine hopes to continue providing a broad academic platform for authors worldwide.

Prof. Anthony P. Yim, Honorary Editor-in-Chief of AME's AME Surgical Journal and a pioneer in keyhole chest surgery, has now transformed himself into an artist. He shared his story of transition from a surgeon to an artist. He hopes his experience can make a difference to others when they are facing similar life adversities and turn challenges into opportunities.

Prof. Gary Yang from Radiation Medicine at Loma Linda University, Editor-in-Chief of AME's Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology, noted that in an era where medical knowledge advances at an unprecedented pace, innovation in research is no longer optional but essential. The challenges currently facing clinical research also present unique opportunities for usby encouraging high-level academic exchanges, open dialogue, and genuine collaboration, we can accelerate progress and make meaningful changes.

Prof. Alan Sihoe from Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, Editor-in-Chief of AME's Journal of Visualized Surgery, analyzed the strengths and challenges of thoracic surgery research and publication in Asia. He emphasized that working with a publisher with extensive global connections can help bridge the gap.

Prof. Eric Y. Chuang, Editor-in-Chief of Translational Cancer Research, encouraged the guests to use the meet-and-greet sessions to inspire one another, spot new collaborations, and forge lasting professional ties.

Prof. Xiaojia Wang from Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Sciences University, Editor-in-Chief of AME's Breast Communications introduced advances in targeting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR (PAM) pathway are reshaping treatment for HR+/HER2-metastatic breast cancer.

Prof. Steven Tucker, Editor-in-Chief of AME's mHealth, used mHealth as an example to highlight the global impact of its published articles and its pioneering coverage of AI, algorithm discovery, and digital health tools. He envisions a future shaped by digital twins and agentic AI.

Prof. Yizhou Jiang from Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center shared insights on the molecular subtyping and precision treatment of triple-negative breast cancer. He noted that triple-negative breast cancer is a highly heterogeneous, mixed tumor and introduced how precision therapy based on molecular subtyping, through innovative strategies such as the "Fudan protocol," has broken through efficacy barriers. Future directions will focus on optimizing molecular subtypes, developing efficient new drugs, and fostering interdisciplinary innovation.

Prof. Wang Chun Kwok from The University of Hong Kong, Editorial Board Member of AME's Translational Pediatricsm, took respiratory diseases as an example, illustrating simple indicators such as FeNO and eosinophils linking to complex biomarkers can help determine which treatments are more effective, which is the value of phenotyping.

  

In an era of rapid medical knowledge updates, high-level academic exchange will accelerate breakthroughs in clinically driven medical research innovation and enhance the value of medical innovation applications. Following the forum, attendees gathered for a dinner to continue in-depth exchanges on topics including research collaboration, article publication, and outcome transformation.
